TIMOTHY BROEGE:  An Old Welsh Reverie
Based on three traditional Welsh songs:  "All Through the Night", "The Monks' March," and "The Ash Grove." Largely contemplative, like a dream of a vanished world, the music varies from very slow to moderate in tempo and contains nothing to be played fast or very loud.

3:20 Duration        $57.00
TIMOTHY BROEGE:  Prelude & Fughetta
Inspired by the poem "You and I and the World" by Swedish poet Werner Aspenstrom.   Two traditional musical structural procedures are used in the composition.  The prelude uses a "ground bass" harmonic pattern to underlie the sequential melodic pattern.  Traditional "fugue" form is used in the fughetta.

GREGORY YOUTZ: Song of Joy
Song of Joy began as the anthem “Ring Out Ye Crystal Spheres,” set to a text from "On the Morning of Christ's Nativity" by 17th century English poet John Milton. The composition realizes the imagery of Milton's poem in the “ringing” of the chimes and bells, the “base of heav’ns deep organ” in the low brass, the “nine-fold harmony” in the series of nine chords in MM. 42-46 and in the “full consort” tutti statement at the end.

THOMAS STONE:  Were You There?
Recorded by Eugene Corporon and the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, Were You There? was composed as part of a commissioning project for the New Trier High School Wind Ensemble of Winnetka, Illinois.   Frequent modulations and fresh harmonic twists create a fascinating and warm setting of what is perhaps the most stirring of all American spirituals.

4:30  Duration        $78.00

TIMOTHY BROEGE:  The Tango Disappearing
This one movement work begins and ends with a tango that is touched with melancholy.  In the middle, an anachronistic march "invades" the melancholy mood and attempts to banish all traces of the tango.   And yet the tango and its mood of regret return.  No longer capable of much energy, however, the sad dance gradually fades away.

2:45  Duration        $57.00
TIMOTHY BROEGE:  Dreams of the Blue River
Dreams of the Blue River consists of three movements, and was commissioned by the New York State Band Directors Association in 2008. What is the “Blue River?”  It flows and it flows out of the past and into an uncertain future.  Running clear (on good days) and murky (on the others), the river empties into the sea of dreams.  Some people swim with the current, some against it.  The river is part of the landscape and sountrack of life.
