Blue Streak is being composed for the University of Georgia Wind Ensemble and Maestro John Lynch. The piece sets out in the continuous variation form, the theme being developed through a variety of treatments before giving way to brief respites of concordant strains. Although the conception of Blue Streak is decidedly linear, the harmonic dimension of the music adds intrigue and soul and is by no means neglected. The continuous variations resume and intensify toward a powerful final statement.
