Communication for Development and Social Change advances scholarship and professional work devoted to  improving life opportunities on the ground for communities, both urban and rural, suffering from poverty due to neglect or political oppression, especially in the so-called Third World. This includes analysis of project interventions, social movements, communication policy, media ecology, and related subjects.

The Journal publishes articles, project reports, and book reviews covering empirical research, theory, and practice on subjects within this context.
