distribution

The internet will play an increasingly important part in distribution through the next ten years, and may eventually take the place of broadcast television as the most important medium for wildlife documentaries.

Thicket Films creates gripping and exciting television, from music videos to wildlife documentaries. Pay us a visit to view stunning footage of polar bears and arctic foxes.

It is crucial that wildlife film doesn’t turn up late for the next generation of audio-visual programmes. Thicket Films will focus on using the internet for distribution - with revenue-generating services such as the iTunes store - and promotion - with trailers and clips available on sites such as YouTube.

Using the internet can increase profit margins and will generate a greater interest in the broadcast programme.

location

Thicket Films is located in south-west England, in Bristol, the international centre of wildlife filmmaking, with access to prestigious companies such as the BBC Natural History Unit and ARKive.

the future

The next Thicket Films project is a wildlife documentary, ‘On the Edge of Everything’, filmed on the North Slope of Alaska from July to October 2008.

More details as they arrive about ‘On the Edge of Everything’ are viewable on the ‘Blog’ section of this website. For news and views, check out the blog, and for previous videos from Thicket Films, the gallery.

Thicket Films creates gripping and thought-provoking wildlife documentaries and music videos by integrating film and editing techniques in innovative ways.

While traditional wildlife documentaries target their intended audience well, Thicket Films can open up a new demographic to nature programmes. The next generation of viewers have been brought up on slick, short, highly-produced television programmes and value their production techniques more highly than traditional media. They are missing out on the important environmental issues that wildlife film can convey to them.

Thicket Films will inject new life into the genre, with exciting film techniques, modern music and striking stories, which will speak to the under-25s.
