Darlene Brodbeck, has been providing AT support and services full time since 2003.
Previously, she taught for 17 years working in a variety of special education settings including residential settings and self contained classrooms in the public sector in Colorado, wonderful private schools in St. Louis, and a truly collaborative co-teaching position providing services to students with mixed abilities in Connecticut.

Darlene received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and her Masters degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She has also earned two sixth year degrees from Southern Connecticut State University in consultation and collaboration as well as adaptive technology

Through out her travels, the one thing that did not change was the desire to help students become more independent and self-directed utilizing a host of strategies and tools. It is with this passion that she also created the Assistive Technology Profile, a communication tool to assist educators and clinicians keep track the AT that students need as part of their educational program with outcomes, including what is currently being explored or what has been previously attempted with each student.
http://www.assistivetech.com/p-atprofile.htm# The goal of the AT Profile is to provide the necessary communication detailing what a student needs to be successful so that a student never fails to receive supports because the information was not communicated clearly to the rest of the team members or to receiving teams during periods of transition.

Quote: “I have found that the thrill and excitement of helping students overcome obstacles and break down barriers in their daily life never diminishes. It is very gratifying to see a learner make choices, contribute to their learning and participate in the classroom or the community with a level of independence that did not exist before.”

Darlene strives to bridge educational strategies with technology to empower all students to be successful. She believes that through the use of low tech to high tech tools or strategies we are able to offer students options and opportunities that did not exist before.

Darlene lives in Connecticut with her husband and two children.

To Accomplish great things,
We must not only act,
But also dream; not only plan,
But also believe,
