Look at the kid in the picture above. He’s going to make it hard for folks to fight for better child labor laws. I thought it was so funny that this shoe shiner decided to take a ice cream break from his work.

Despite all the shopping I’ve been doing I haven’t made a lot of purchases. Partly because I’m poor but mostly because I suck at bargaining. There are people all over this town trying to sell you something. And they all have a “special price” just for me, including Rummy. (“special price” is code for ‘I’m charging you to much, lets rumble’)
When I was at the lake Rummy asked me if I wanted to buy a bracelet. He was selling those bracelets made with colorful string with your name spelled out on top. This kid could not have been more than 12 years old. But he was an excellent sells man. He convinced me to buy. But he didn’t have my name in his collection. So he custom made me a bracelet. It was orange and yellow with my name in black. It was perfect.
While I waited for him to work his craft I figured I had a captive victim to help me with my spanish. So we talked. This salesman became a welcomed distraction. He’s a cool kid. Today I’m a little bummed because I lost my bracelet. It’s one of those things you can’t replace because of the memory attached to it, right?
But all is not lost, I do have another kid story to share with you all later. It’s about a girl, some pancakes and a fork. If you don’t hear the story from me I’m sure Tony will tell it to you. Let just say it wasn’t one of my finer moments :-)
Peace and love to all.
