The SSHRC-funded YouthCLAIM project investigates Critical Literacies and Arts-Integrated Media at three sites: a zine program with street-entrenched youth; a community media production project with youth who advocate against violence; and a secondary school devised theatre program.
The project explores issues related to identity, the use of arts and media as discursive resources, and social and cultural engagement and critique (see short video below). We have worked collaboratively with each site for approximately one year.
Project participants include the principal investigator, Theresa Rogers, three doctoral students -- Kari Winters, Anne-Marie LaMonde and Mia Perry -- and the youth and their mentors at the three sites.
