HPC #1 PbVillage :: 1st Place
HPC #1 PbVillage :: 1st Place
With this tournament the national championship also known as (HPC) Hellenic Paintball Championship kicked off on the Athens Paintball Village field. This year some fundamental changes have been introduced including millennium ramping as well as a new qualification system, where final placing is no longer determined by semifinals and finals but instead all games played in the weekend count up for your final placing. True championship style.
11 teams showed up from all around Greece, a number which we expect will rise during the course of the year. Reffing was done by team Kryptia which did a good job on this difficult task with no complains at all.
On the games side on Saturday due mostly to the coldy weather which affected our mood our playing style wasn't what we wanted as we werent in the best shape however we won all of our games except the game with Molon Lave a team from Sparta, showing up in the whole tournament with 4 players and still managed to take our points out of their sheet. We also had a draw with Dogs D'Amour from Thessaloniki which was timed out with 5 players from their side and 3 from ours (Spiros sacrifised himself in an unsuccesful runthrough). On Saturday's scores we ended 2nd just 1 point under Dogs D'Amour.
On Sunday however our playing style changed, playing more aggresively we won all of our games, with a good average live count. Again we had a draw with Patras Invasion from Patra. In that game Invasion managed to reduce us early in the game to three players against 5 of them, however we managed to turn the game completely but didn't have the time to grab the flag and return it.
From the second game of Sunday we managed to take the lead and be in front of Dogs D'Amour, and in our 2nd game against them we managed to beat them and maintain the lead till the end of day and win the 1st leg of HPC.
Teo was voted MVP of the tournament for his overall perfomace during the weekend.
Contrary to the past two years this season started off well, lets hope it stays this way till the end. Next up is the Greek centurio....details will follow :D
