I liked both the book and the movie.
Each painted a beautiful image. I realted with each. Each made me want to go camping.
The book was written in plain English that I found easy to follow. It tells the story in different peices at a time. The author did a good job getting the characters accoss without putting a blame to Chris’s tragedy. He also touches on some other stories that relate to journey’s such as Chris’s that are fun and well descriptive. I found myelf getting excited at points and could’t put it down. I felt like I was leatherbacking myself right along side Alexander von Supertramp.
The Movie was shoot beautifully. I felt every shot was the money shot. So smart, and ambitious of Senn Penn to go out like this. Definitly a trend setter. Using classic simplicity to reinvent cinematogrphey, Sean let’s us movie critics know that good movies are a live and well and entering a new era. Looking forward to more from Sean Penn. So experienced and brought up in the most respected light. Thanks for sharing.
The book told me a story I am familiar with. A story that I believe everyone has of their own. A story of misunderstanding and incompleteness of what is the meaning of our existance on this planet. These are questions we’ll never know, but we will continue to follow the stories of those that had the heart and drive to take it to limits that man just can’t seem to bring themselves.
For most of us there are boundries that keep our experiences tamed in an actual reality that keeps us safe in the knowlege that we will all come out alright in the end, when really we will be stuck with the questions of what if when endevours aren’t capitalized. At the end of the day people will stretch their boundries to a limit that is perfect for their life experience, and therefore will feel as if they are constantly battleing with life and death situations. As different as boundries may be set from person to person, this story is told in a way to show that their is a little bit Chris Mccandless in all of us.
When telling a story it is important to speak in a language that we all can understand, and this book does just that. No matter how extream Chris’s journey may have seemed to most, for him it was just right, and an extention of is own make. It is not the dream of Alaska that we have in common with Chris, it is simply question of what that puts us all together.
The movie showed many beautiful shots of the entire country. I have actually come across many af the place Chris McCandless did, and I feel that the gaze matched mine at points. it really captured the essence of what it feels like to look out into nothingness and truely be awed amazed and inspired.
TBC...
This picture is a looks like a dream to me. What is it that makes one go afer their dreams?
I feel as though I could walk right into this picture. I can feel the tempeture, and can smell its air. A scene like this can harness fear without the anxiety that comes along with it. There is something about nature that lets me know that everything is all okay. When you can see it you can believe it. You believe it, you go for it. Respect.
TALE OF AN AMERICAN HERO...
This is a story of Chris Mccandless. A young man from West Virginia whose passion for understanding took him on a journey where he lost and found his life.
