We have been in the States now for a little over a week, and we are all finally adjusted to the time change.  Our plane landed us in Iowa where we are taking several weeks to rest among Brian’s side of the family.  Our rest has come in the form of daily four-wheeler rides, playing in the creek, and evenings around the campfire under the stars.  The fields of Iowa have been good medicine to our souls as we process reintegrating to American culture.

One thing that I have realized more since we’ve been back is that I am not the same person I was when I left for Europe eight years ago.  I tried to sit in Starbucks one morning last week, groping for something familiar, and even that looked and felt different (not to mention the prices--yikes!).  This week, I have been giving myself the freedom to approach and rediscover America through that different lens, instead of trying to compare things to the past.  I think things will go easier for me and be more enjoyable along the way.

We recently got our computer hooked back up, so I will be able to blog a little more regularly about our journey of adjustment.  Thank you for your many prayers and encouragement!
