The Battle for the Heart

Every man is created with this deep desire to fight for something--and not just anything--something worthy of his life.  Too many men today are retreating from a very crucial battlefield--the battle for their wife’s heart, for their kids, and for their family.  Instead of turning to fight and win back their wife’s affections and trust, they take the easy way of the adulteress--the career, the other woman, pride, or pornography.

We have been saddened and, at times, angry over these realities.  We’ve heard of so many men recently (even in the Church) who have up and walked away from everything they worked so hard for.  Indeed, they even walk away from the God-given fiber of their being to be the victor and warrior in their family’s life.

Christ never retreated from the battle for our hearts.  He took one look at the ugly sin-stained battlefield and said, “I’m going in there, and I’m not coming back until I’ve won.”  He stands as the ultimate example for all men, and He knew we would need one.   I’m so thankful that he deemed my heart was one worth fighting for.   We need to pray that men of God today will stay the course--and go into battle if necessary--to be Christlike examples to a watching world.
