The Squid Venture

Last Thursday, I took a plunge during my weekly market shopping and purchased some raw squid.  I couldn’t pass up the deal of three full squid for only four euros, not to mention the thought of having some fresh fried calamari without going out to a restaurant.  Brian and I have grown to enjoy fresh “calamari friti.”
 
So, that night, after the girls had gone to bed, Brian and I set to the task of preparing our first squid.  I had looked up a tutorial on the internet of how to clean them, and Brian was a trooper--doing most of the cleaning while I snapped some pictures. :-) I think I got the clean and easy job.  I did the battering and frying.  
 
It was funny, though, after we finished, we ended up with this HUGE plate of seafood that could have easily fed five people!  What a feast!  And in addition to the other foods I had prepared to go with dinner, we got stuffed before we even finished.  Our neighbor downstairs lucked out, as we took the leftovers to him!
