Arabica, Coffea Arabica - The earliest and most widely cultivated species of coffee tree.  It produces approximately  70% of the world’s coffee production.  It is the highest quality coffee bean and is the backbone of the Specialty Coffee Industry.


AA - Is a Grade denotation which usually describes a coffee beans size.  For example, Kenyan AA is their largest bean and AAA is the largest offered in Peru.


Barista - An Italian name for an espresso bar operator.


Blend - A mixture of two or more single-origin coffees.


Robusto - Responsible for 30% of the world’s coffee production, it is primarily used as a commercial grade coffee and as a balance in espresso blends.  The cup quality is not comparable to Arabica coffee.


Espresso - Finely ground coffee brewed by forcing hot water under pressure for 20-25 seconds to produce a rich and sweet coffee drink.


Single Origin - Unblended coffee from a single country, region, and crop.
