The Hornbuckle Family
The Hornbuckle Family
2008
We are the Hornbuckle family: Eric, Anna, Aaron, Ian, Collin, Lauren and Sofie (our dog!). We live in Springfield, Virginia, which is just outside Washington, D.C., one of the most influential cities in the world.
We’re a typical family, I guess. We’ve made mistakes. We’ve had our hearts broken. We’ve laughed and cried together. But through each and every joy, each and every hurt, we have been sustained by the love of our Father.
Recently we thought the Lord was directing us to England where we expected to enter full-time ministry at Emmanuel Church in Plymouth, Devon. The people were so beautiful and we looked forward to our season of life there. But, in my haste to “close the deal” and sort out the many details, I didn’t fully count the cost. With great sadness, we had to withdraw our acceptance of the position, and close the door on serving in England.
We don’t know where the Lord is leading us -- maybe no where at all. Maybe it’s the assumption that the Lord is leading us “somewhere” is the problem. Maybe it’s enough just to be in the presence of His beauty and love those in our “now.”
One thing is for sure...we are learning to want nothing more than Jesus -- He is all we need.
Welcome to our site
The goal of authentic spirituality is a life which escapes from the closed circle of spiritual self-indulgence, or even self-improvement, to become absorbed in the love of God and other persons.

What’s going on in our world?
Well, we’re adjusting to a future in Virginia for starters. The kids are all getting into the swing of another school year: Aaron in 10th, Ian in 8th, Collin in 4th, and Lauren in 2nd grade.
Anna is still serving the Lord at Truro Church as Nursery Coordinator, plus lots of other things! She’s the best mother around!
Eric is still working at the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, and will be taking a new role at Truro Church as Asst. Rector of Small Groups and Outreach. He’ll need your prayers!
Let us know what you’re up to.
All problems, personal or social come from a failure to use the gospel in a radical way. All pathologies in the church and all its ineffectiveness comes from a failure to use the gospel in a radical way. We believe that if the gospel is expounded and applied in its fullness in any church, that church will look very unique.
