Riverside bobsled

Talk about engaging, meaningful, integrated work. . .

The eighth graders at Riverside Middle School just completed a bobsled unit that encompassed math, science, social studies/geography and language arts.

In science, the students learned about friction, drag and velocity and how to make their bobsled go faster.  In social studies they learned about a country that they team represented.  In language arts, they wrote about their bobsled and their country and in math, the students designed their bobsled to scale, and then had to construct it using primarily cardboard, and duct tape.

Then, they got to test them out on the slopes of Sunlight Mountain.

The narrator is Riverside teacher Molly Ballensky.

This is the second year for the bobsled project at Riverside.
