LAOH and AOH Division 88 dedicates their name to Officer Daniel Boyle. Danny Boyle was the son of Patrick and Nancy Boyle, presidents of Division 88’s AOH and LAOH. Danny lived in Northeast Philadelphia and was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, Class of 1987. On February 5, 1990, Danny, like his father, joined the Philadelphia Police Department and was assigned to the 26th District.
Danny, only being on the force for one year and one day, had his life taken from him. While patrolling the streets in North Philadelphia on February 4, 1991, he found a stolen car. It was his duty to stop this vehicle and while doing so, the driver got out of the car with a 9mm handgun. It was at this moment that Danny’s and his family’s lives changed forever. The gunman shot over 15 bullets and one of those bullets struck Danny in the right temple. On February 6, 1991, Danny died from this wound at the age of 21.
LAOH and AOH Division 88, Officer Daniel Boyle Division, was formed in Danny’s memory. The work done throughout the community is done in his name. As we the brothers and sisters of Division 88 continue to grow as a family, Officer Daniel Boyle will be kept in our hearts and minds forever.
