We had 10 projects submitted in the botany category. Our judges were Marilyn McLean, Assistant Director of the Arrowhead Environmental Education Center and Dennis Abney, Assistant Superintendent of Floyd County Schools.

First Place Award
 
Taylor Stover
“How accurate are seven-day forecasts?”
The judges said: “Valid results. Lots of data. You followed scientific process for the entire length of time.”

2nd Place Award
    
Cassidy Smith
“Does atmospheric pressure increase or decrease the formation of clouds?”
The judges said: “You followed the process even though it led in a direction opposite of your hypothesis.”

3rd Place Award    
Noah Studdard
“Average Wind Speed”
The judges said: “You realized that variables may have impacted the outcome.”


. Honorable Mention Award
     
Ethan Riggs
“Do all types of soil absorb rainwater at the same rate?”
The judges said: “You followed scientific procedure.”
