TeeBlog

Well, ya know it must be a special night if I’m updating the blog.  Not exactly prolific with this thing.  At any rate, it is in fact a special night.  This is my fourth opening night with the Open Fist and such a lovely show to be involved with.

“The Dead” is a musical based on James Joyce’s short story of the same name.  Never much into Joyce before this and I realize that it’s because I never took the time to ingest the work.  The musical is a very effective treatment of the material - far superior to the Huston film, in my opinion.  The music in the show evolves from social posturing to private confessional as the story itself does.  Something about the adaptation in this manner makes the themes so much more accessible.

But I’m in it, so I have no real perspective.  This could all be so much “palaver” to use Lily’s word from the story.  I can tell you we are all having such a great time and the audience loved it.  The after-party was a blast, as they usually are at the Fist.  Such a great group of people gather at this theatre.

I guess I’m feeling really wistful and grateful to be a part of this group.  To be acting again on a regular basis.  To have the opportunity to play such wonderful role.

I’ll post some more soon with pix to go with.  So if anyone out there is reading this, check back soon.
