Welcome to my Toyota MR2 page. I am the proud owner of a 1989 MR2. This was the last year of production for the AW11 body type -the original MR2. It is a 2 seat mid-engine sports car produced in low quantities between 1985 and 1989. It is relatively light by today’s standards at approx 2,500 lbs. These cars came with a 1.6 liter 16 valve double overhead cam 4 cylinder engine known as the 4AGE. Yamaha assisted with design and production of this engine. During ’88 and ’89 it was also available with a supercharged version known as the 4AGZE. My original 4AGE engine and 5 speed tranny have now been removed from the car for my 3sgte swap. They are just south of Chicago near Champaign. They have 82,000 miles on them. Mobil 1 and filter every 5,000 miles since I bought the car. Brand new Toyota alternator and belts. Tranny shift feel is like new -I hope my new one is as nice after my swap is complete. I will post some pics of the orig. engine & tranny soon.
