some of my pictures

“Everything is biographical, Lucien Freud says. What we make, how it is made, how we draw a dog, who it is we are drawn to, why we cannot forget. Everything is collage, even genetics. There is the hidden presence of others in us, even those we have known briefly. We contain them for the rest of our lives, at every border that we cross.”

                                       — Michael Ondaatje, from his novel, Diviserado

Most of the pictures you’ll find in the following pages were taken during summer, 2007 in India, mostly in Sikkim,
a northeastern state that borders Tibet, Nepal & Bhutan.
I was working at Taktse Int’l School, teaching creative writing & hand bookbinding to children in grades 4th – 7th.
