The Program
Curriculum
ALA sessions are designed to promote confidence, develop focus, and provide knowledge and skills to attendees. Through in-classroom presentations and outside discussions, students should leave with skills to strengthen them in the following categories:
Attitude – ethics, character, integrity and the importance of habits
Finance – budgeting, credit, investing and the power of money
Interpersonal Skills – etiquette, relationships, social consciousness
Leadership – vision, objectives, strategies, commitment, passion
LIfe Skills – negotiation, communications, networking, job search skills
Management – goal setting, team building, prioritization, timelines, execution
Each session will be slightly different, according to the faculty who can be with us, though core speakers are consistent every week. A usual weekly schedule for March sessions is as follows:
Sunday –
8 AM-10 PM Arrivals & Check-ins
5:30 PM Orientation
6:30 PM Dinner with Faculty
7:30 PM Panel Discussion - Leadership & Success
8:40 PM Reception/Bonfire with Faculty
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday –
10 AM - 12:30 PM Presentations (class time)
12:30 - 1:30 PM Lunch
Afternoons will normally consist of additional presentations from 1:30 to 3:30 PM, but could also include breakout sessions, discussion roundtables or off-site experiences.
6:30 PM Dinner
Evenings may offer optional breakout or discussion sessions. Otherwise, bus transport into town is provided by the hotel.
Wednesday –
Day off – Explore Los Cabos or sign up for optional excursions such as snorkeling, surfing, sport fishing, ATVs or a community service project.
Faculty
The ALA recruits talented and successful individuals from all walks of life to deliver our curriculum and their own perspectives and life experiences to the attendees of our seminars. Past speakers have included leaders from business, medicine, law, politics, sports, the military, science and academia.
Each generously gives of their time to present to the students who attend ALA seminars, and each brings a unique and personal perspective to our general curriculum. The ALA adjusts its faculty list annually, to ensure the best possible presenters each session.
