research mission
to pursue the archaeological record of the enslaved in the united states, with the hope of furthering the knowledge of their social and material lives, to further understand the development of and reliance upon community as a means of negotiating the power struggles that dominated their lives, and to examine how this negotiation of power has continued into our contemporary issues with race.
also to further the development of archaeological field work by incorporating the use of computer technology to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and practicability of data collection in the field.
