Sept. 2008. I’ve renamed him Ruutu Black. He’s a Morgan-cross. He’s 14.2 hands. He has a little white on his nose, and is somewhat gaited (which is somewhat like his trot). We’re working on our communication skills, if you know what I mean, by learning Parelli Natural Horsemanship together. When I got him in Nov 2007, he was a whopping 1160 lbs.
Why Ruutu? Currently there are two NHL players (I LOVE HOCKEY) with the last name of Ruutu. (pronounced like RUE-TWO) I just like the sound of word and thought it fit him well. The pictures ruutu31_600 and Ruutu_1043__600 were taken by my mom, on Sept. 4th at Edenview Farm, where Ruutu lives. I see him almost every day and he is a great joy in my life.
Nov. 2009 Ruutu Black is doing very well. He’s about 822 lbs and he has learned a ton this year. We are trailering and trail riding by ourselves. He is getting calmer about being around a bunch of strange horses. And I’ve learned a great deal this year too. Continuing on with my studies on being a better partner for him.
Nov. 2009 We have our own trailer now! A birthday and Christmas present to ourselves! Ruutu seemed to like it okay. It is huge compared to the trailer we were borrowing. On the downside, means it weights more than the one I was accustomed to pulling and it will cost more to pull it. It is in almost perfect condition for a used trailer, and I couldn’t be happier with our new trailer! We’ve used it every single weekend since it arrived.
Okay! It’s official...we RODE in our first Christmas Parade! December 12, 2009. Next year, we’ll work on decorating and not getting scarred to death of joyous friends shouting at us!
