Two years ago this month marks the beginnings of the Daring Bakers. November 2006, Ivonne and Liz baked pretzels. Sounds like a simple beginning doesn’t it.

Jeepers, one year ago I was hosting the Daring Bakers here with Tender Potato Bread - Recipe - Various Bakings. A year has passed and it is now time for celebrating Two Years of Daring Baker World Domination. Truly, I can’t count them anymore, there are so many Daring Bakers around this globe!

This month is special for a couple more reasons:

We had a charming hostess whose long been on my reading list and two great co-hosts

•Our hostess Dolores of Culinary Curiosity and

• Our co-hostess: Alex of Brownie and Blondie and Jenny of Foray into Food

AND we had the author of the recipe answering questions and giving us coaching! The recipe for our Caramel Cake comes to us from Shuna Fish Lydon and can be found on her blog BayAreaBites here. I’ve been reading her blog since about the beginning of time as well.

AND this month is special because this is Great Cake people. If you are here very often, you know I’m not much on fancy, I leave that to my fancy friends in the DB.

I baked this for my birthday before we left Dallas last week for our Northwest Thanksgiving this week.

With this cake un-fancy as mine is, you’ll find it VERY FANCY on your taste buds, promise.

The brown butter caramel will be enough to make you more than happy to bake this cake whatever you’re celebrating.

So, go check out all the fancy DB Caramel Cakes but just remember - this is great cake.
