Return again and again, yes.
2007
Something over two years ago when we were helping Dad move back into his house, we found a fairly new and small restaurant in downtown Morro Bay. We tried it. It was wonderful fresh, creative food and had a terrific wine list. Even better was the wine pairing menu. It’s still there! We went back last night!
Above you see our greetings from the chef, an Amuse-Bouche of tiny grape tomatoes, mozzarella balls and sprouts with a tasty vinaigrette.

Dad ordered the Spring mix salad, grapes, gorgonzola cheese, onions, pecans with walnut sherry vinaigrette.
I tasted, it was excellent.

The beet salad is gorgeous to look at and heavenly to eat. Perfectly finely diced beets with just the right touch of feta - salty and creamy - crispy pea shoots perfectly balanced with the balsamic vinaigrette.

For the third/main course Dad ordered the fish of the day which was Ono. I did try this and it was beautiful.

Again, and this is not our usual, Gorn & I both ordered the Ahi tuna. I’m very selective about cabbage salad/slaw that I like, so I was set to be ok with passing it up. I ate every bite. The sesame dressing was gloriously fresh and light on simple red and green cabbage! The tuna was divine with the soy glaze. It would be easy to eat this too fast, I forced my self to eat slow enough to savor every bite!

We all shared a side of Green Beans with Prosciutto. The prosciutto was crisp and just the right foil for the green beans. If you are ever there, don’t miss these.
The desserts sounded divine and I would love to have tried the flour less chocolate cake to compare it with the one I made recently. We passed on dessert knowing we had an Espresso Gingerbread Cake waiting at home.
Shawn Washburn is the chef and does all the cooking himself! His wife, Nicole, runs the front of the house. Nicole is the perfect, gracious hostess and responds to each guest individually. Even all the stuff my Dad tried to pull on her didn’t seem to phase her. Both of them are delightful to talk with.

We left happy as larks, dancing across the street to our car in some wild rain.
