In 1989, under much controversy, the Kenyan Government burnt the ivory of over 2000 elephant as an anti-poaching initiative. The program was then repeated in Nairobi National Wildlife Park close to the city’s suburbs. This event consisted of a mass incineration in which thousands of confiscated animal skins and game trophies were publicly destroyed.
The Burning of Hides was filmed in Super 8 by Gabriela Trzebinski, Kenya, 1989 & re-edited in 2009.
