An Indoor Coral Reef

An indoor reef is the holy grail of our hobby: Thriving corals are the background for healthy, active fish. Strong, turbulent currents mimic the waves of the ocean, and new advances in lighting systems can blind the naked eye. Clean, nutrient poor water provides a pristine view of tiny stationary polyps and colorful moving  pets that eat from my fingers.

Our indoor reef is a 75 AGA. Lighting is provided by 2 250 watt MHs, supplemented by 4 PC 55 actinics. Water motion is provided by two Koralia 3’s hidden behind the rock structure, and a strong return from the 70 gallon sump.
