A Belize Seagrass Reef
A Belize Seagrass Reef
The barrier reef a short distance from the seagrass beds of Belize provides protection from the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean, enabling a paradise for aquatic lifeforms to flourish. Seahorses live and thrive in these beds: growing, courting and adapting to these conditions for thousands of years.
Our seahorses have thrived in their 75 AGA since CITES regs outlawed their importation in 2005. Lit with 2 VHO bulbs, over 32 species of algae have had a chance to try these cool waters. Water motion is provided by the return of the tank above it, and a small power head to move stagnant areas. At this point, the syngnathid species shown are approaching their third generation, with the tiny fry living in an attached nursery tank.
