Moving through beauty

Well we have been working really hard. My normal flow of gigs is 4 in a row and we have regularly been doing 5. But such great reception! The shows have been very full and the reception keeps getting better and better. Gerry and I will have to add a new song for another encore soon. Probably Anniversary. I can’t even recall each gig, each venue - some rock clubs, some small theaters, and some gorgeous large theaters like the one in Montpellier. So beautiful!

This tour is like a Tour of Beauty - the autumn landscape with the furrowed fields, the rich light; the food waiting at each venue (you know my feelings about that...). Why would anyone want to live any other way? Look at this food, it’s amazing. Moving through France right now is like being in a glorious living painting. Good for the heart and soul even if it is hard work. Alain the promoter is strict with me - “You must speak more French! It’s the second week! You should be making some introductions in French by now!” So I am staring at my little books and practicing on the chambermaid.

Last night’s theater in Lyon was the Salle Moliere, which houses the Guignol puppets. The classic story is of the little man who beats up the policeman with the stick. Since my husband Paul is a civil rights lawyer and often works with clients who have been abused by the police, I bought him the the two puppets of the man and the policeman.
