Rock in Rio
Last night we all stayed up late and watched The Police perform their last show in Europe at Rock in Rio. That’s me in the white coat way over on the side and that is Sting and 100,000 people in front of him. They have 120 people on tour with them, we have 5 total! I loved meeting Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, I know their faces so well from staring at the album covers. (Yes, albums covers...) Photo by Mark Dyde. Last night as we got into Madrid at about 2:15 AM the city was partying like I have never seen a city party so late at night. Huge crowds and a feeling of celebration everywhere.
When I met Stewart he surprised me by saying “Nice to see you again!” I had never met him before. He said, “Oh yes I have! Through someone you were dating or married to! Who have you dated in the last 30 years?” My brain drew a blank as I thought “You want a complete accounting right now?” How funny. I am sure I would have remembered him if I had met him as I am a complete Police fanatic and was from the beginning..
