The angels, saints and sinners who inhabit these works are less about religion and more about the everyday occurrences that make us distinctly human: fears, wishes, wonders, affairs of the heart and the consequences of living life on planet Earth. My textile art borrows -- slightly -- from the world of quilts and the concerns of quilters, but their stories and substance are far more important than their material dimensions. They might have been paintings, except that I prefer the qualities of cloth over those of stretched canvas and the pleasures of stitching over brushwork.
