In April, Micah got his semi-annual haircut AND we bought his first pair of underwear! We LOVE LOVE Micah’s long curly hair, but it gets shaggy every 5-6 months, so we have to cut it. Scott always goes to trim it, but ends up cutting it short because Micah can’t sit still (he’s two!). Plus since it’s so short, it means it only needs to be cut a few times a year. That same morning, I took Micah to Target to get underwear. It was fun picking out Thomas the Train and camo undies! Micah has been interested in potty training since December and I’ve been so lazy at encouraging his interest. I mean, I let him use the toilet a few times a day, but I also don’t mind “looking the other way” if he goes in his diaper. So I figure I NEEDED the underwear to be more motivated to actually take him to the toilet whenever he asked to go. So after a few accidents on the floor (and implementing the jelly bean reward system), Micah (and I) potty trained fairly quickly. Now, actually going in public is a different story- Micah is afraid of the sound of the public flushes. I can’t say I blame him, they are pretty loud. Anyways, he’ll tell me he has to use the toilet when we are out but always gets really upset when we actually go into the stall. I’m not sure how to overcome this - i want to be sensitive, yet... he HAS to use the toilet so... I’m still working on this one.
