Elliot was a little on edge yesterday afternoon. He only slept for about 10 minutes at a time and then would wake up screaming. This went all for several hours. I think he is just out of his routine and a bit anxious. We decided to go down to the pool to see if Elliot would like a little sunshine. We sat in the shade with him for at least an hour and he was in much better spirits. It was good to get some fresh air.
We went back up to our room and called the Wheeler's. They had a great day at the orphanage with the children again and were able to spend some time with their precious Xiomara. Their came over about 6:30 with some roses for Amelia and we ate dinner at a German restaurant in the hotel. Elliot slept through dinner (which was great) and we enjoyed our delicious meal. After dinner we went back up to our room and played Uno for a while and Elliot continued to sleep. I was a bit concerned that the little bear would be up all night since he was sleeping so much. Right as we were about to finish the game of Uno, Elliot woke up and we were all excited to see him. It was so much fun to have Chris and Lindsey here to share in the joy.
We gave Elliot a bottle and no sooner did he fill his belly, he filled his britches. He is a little gordito and consequently his diapers are a bit too small for him....so...his diaper leaked up his back. We all has a good laugh (sorry Elliot), cleaned him up and gave him a bath for the first time. He loved the water and was full of smiles afterward. He looked like a little burrito all wrapped up in the soft white towel. We were all so amazed at his body structure. None of us had ever seen a baby so muscular. I don't want to dwell on it, but it is simply amazing. We played a while and then Chris and Lindsey went back to Joel's about 10:30.
Amelia went to bed and I stayed up with the little bear. He fell asleep for a while next to me on the couch and then woke up about 12:30 AM ready for another bottle. I laid him on my chest and fed him so he would stay partially asleep. It seemed to work, as I was able to lay him down in the crib about 1:00 and he slept until 3:00 - at least we got one REM cycle in. He woke up again at 4:00 and at 5:00 and Amelia was able to finally get him to sleep in the stroller. He slept for a couple more hours and Amelia got up with him at 7:00 to start a new day.
We went down to breakfast at 9:00 and tag teamed the meal...eating and holding Elliot. He finally went back to sleep at the end of breakfast and we put him in the stroller. He slept for about 20 minutes and then woke up screaming. I gave him a bottle on my chest again and Amelia took a much needed nap. He is such a little bear! He started getting upset after completing his bottle...I tried to burp him, but he didn't really have gas. So, I took the nipple off the bottle, plugged the hole with my finger and let him suck away. Thankfully it worked. He slept for about an hour and then woke up as he filled his britches (I am starting to see a routine here...lol). I cleaned him up and he went back to sleep. He is currently laying on Amelia's lap on the couch. I am sure he will wake up soon with a hefty poop and then be hungry again. Oh yeah...no sooner did I type it....then he did it....too funny...
I am enjoying just staring at him. When we smile at him, he smiles back. He talks in his tiny little voice and his cry is a scratchy high pitched whine - much like a new born baby. His temperament goes from 0-60 in 3 seconds; from a smile to a hysterical scream. His tummy rolls over his diaper like a little sumo wrestler. He is so different than our little Micah. I so look forward to the wonderful adventures that my two boys will experience together!
