Simply stated: Summit Student Ministry exists to make disciples of Christ (John 8:31).  We want students not only to learn about Jesus, but to put what He teaches into practice in their lives. Students are inundated with many messages that contradict what Christ taught: love God. Therefore, everything we do is geared toward showing kids what it means to love God by being Christ’s disciple. Whether it’s dodgeball, CORE groups (small groups), or camps, our goal is to create environments where students can draw near to God.

Saturday Night Live

Every Saturday night we meet in the Loft at 4:30.

Looking for a place to connect with other middle school/high school students that love God? You’ve found it. Come connect, grow, be challenged, worship and encouraged. The worship is loud, the songs relevant, the students in love with Jesus. Each night proves to be full of energy. Be on the lookout for impromptu plans after the worship service too. Our students have been spotted at bowling alleys, restaurants and coffee shops after service. Worship matters. God word matters. Community matters. You matter.

During the month we also offer midweek activities. The first Wednesday, we meet at the church for our ‘1st Wednesday’ activity. These vary from dodgeball, worship, bigger-and-better scavenger hunt to movie nights.  Each month it’s something different and fun. The remaining Wednesdays we meet in homes for our CORE groups. So, if you’re a sophomore girl you’d be spending time with other sophomore girls looking at the Bible and how it applies to everyday life. If you’re a seventh grade boy, you’d gather with other junior high boys to study the Bible and figure out how to apply loving your brother to caring for that weird kid in your class.

In addition to our weekly gathering times we also have special events that you won’t want to miss. Each summer we offer a middle school camp as well as a high school camp. These camps always include boats, tubes and excessive speed. Worship and growth are important factors at each of our camps too! We also offer annual mission trips during the summer.  Locations vary, so check out our website and upcoming events to find out where we’re headed. Serving at the men’s rescue mission in downtown Reno is another monthly event that our students enjoy. We love the chance to serve those that we often try to avoid.

Our students do a great job caring for the lost, lonely, and hurting. This was extremely evident in our 1 Life Worship Concert. Each year we spend time raising money to help those in need in Africa. In 2007 we raised $22,000 for AIDS relief in Africa and in 2008 we raised $25,000 for poverty relief in Nairobi, Kenya.

We have a ton to offer during the year and make sure to provide fun and opportunity for spiritual growth.  Come check us out!
