Where exactly is Locanda del Gallo

Locanda Del Gallo is in the heart of Umbria between Perugia and Gubbio. Click HERE for more detailed information on the accomodations.

Where do I fly into?

You fly from your departure city to Rome, plan to arrive the morning of May 18th. We will be waiting at the airport for you with a transport van.

How far is the retreat location from the airport?

It is about a 2 and a half hour drive from Rome.

Is airfare and transport included in the retreat cost?

Airfare is the only thing that is not included in the cost.  Transport to and from the airport is included in the retreat cost, as well as all lodging, meals at Locanda, tours, cooking class, and yoga classes.

Can I rent my own car?

Yes, you may rent your own car and make your own way to Locanda.  We will have the van for the entirety of the week however, and will use that to get around from town to town.

What happens if I want to arrive early or leave later?

You may make other travel arrangements but would need to find your own way to Locanda or to the airport the morning of May 18th.

When should I book my flight out of Rome?

You should book your flight for late morning or afternoon on the 25th of May, keeping in mind that if you leave too early in the morning you will have to find your own way to the airport the evening prior.

How do I get the best airfare?

Once you register for the retreat we will put an alert out for cheaper fares to Rome.  When we are notified that fares have dropped, we will notify you immediately!

Can I have my own room?

You most likely will not have your own room, but you can specify a roommate if you wish.  You will also have the 2 and a half hour drive from the airport to Locanda to get to know the group and decide who you would like to room with :)

Can I raise money to pay for my retreat?

YES! Because the proceeds are going to benefit yogaHOPE you can raise the majority of your cost in donation dollars.

How do I go about raising money for the retreat?

Once you register for the retreat on firstgiving.com you will be able to build a fundraising page to help you raise money. You may also take offline donations and mail them in to our offices.

Can I register “offline”? I’m not comfortable paying for anything online.

You may send your registration fee of $495.00 to our offices and indicate that it is for the Yoga/Cooking Italy Retreat.

Will I be able to see some of Italy while I’m on the retreat?

ABSOLUTELY! Because the group is so small, we can all pile into the van and do some wandering, sight seeing and shopping in nearby villages.  Locanda is a very reasonable driving distance from MANY gorgeous and ancient towns in Umbria and Tuscany!

I am a vegetarian/vegan. Will that be a problem?

No. Jimmy,the chef at Locanda del Gallo will accommodate any dietary restriction.

Can we enjoy wine on this retreat?

Of course, it’s ITALY! In the evening you will be able to pick out your beverage in the bar area of Locanda and mark it down on your guest room beverage log.  If you do not finish your bottle that evening, you can hang a room number label on it and enjoy the rest the following evening!

What kind of yoga will we be doing?

The majority of the classes are vinyasa flow inspired, though we will have at least one restorative class during the week.

Do I have to be an advanced yoga practitioner?

No. We will teach all levels yoga classes so that the more advanced practitioner can intensify as they wish and the more novice practitioner can take modifications as needed.

Is this “hot” yoga?

The yoga studio is warm but not uncomfortable. We will not be heating the room to the degree of a typical “hot” yoga class but expect to be warm and do some sweating!

Who are the instructors?

What is the weather like in May?

The average daily tempurature in Umbria in May is 60° F.

Is the pool heated?

The pool is not heated but Paola and Erich, the owners of Locanda, have just installed a new hot tub with a glorious view of the valley!

Can I get laundry done?

You may have your clothes laundered for a fee.  There is no dryer so days have to be sunny for your clothes to dry!

Is there internet?

There is a computer on the third floor of the manor which you can use access the internet.  There is a small fee for this.

Is my place guarenteed by my deposit?

yes. Once your deposit is in you are guarenteed a spot on the retreat.

When is the deadline for registration?

The deadline for the retreat registration is March 30th, 2008.

When is the balance due?

The balance of the retreat cost is due no later than April 27th.
