ABOUT OPERATION RAINBOWS

I firmly believe that when you have a platform to reach a number of people, you should use it to benefit others.  I also am a firm believer in thanking those who are willing to serve our country and communities to preserve our freedom and safety - this includes their families as well, since they, too, are required to make sacrifices.

In that spirit, I collected donations to give copies of my book, I Love You More Than Rainbows, to the children of those serving in our military and to children of fallen police officers and firefighters.  My goal was to help those children who have a parent far away, or gone forever, to know just how much they are loved, and my book does exactly that.  It’s called “Operation Rainbows” and I hoped to reach as many families as possible.  I’m amazed at the generosity of so many.  They truly made a difference in these families’ lives.

The money donated covered the price of the book (wholesale), mailing expenses as well as t-shirts to give to the soldiers I visited as a thank you to them, especially for those who don’t have kids.  (I get t-shirts at cost thanks to my mom who owns a screen printing business and I even help print the shirts!)  Each and every donation was and still is appreciated no matter what amount it was!  My goal was to be as transparent as possible because this is not a profit motivated effort.  It’s a way to say thanks from me and those who contribute.

With each book, I signed it and wrote a personal message as well as wrote the donor’s name and hometown so the child knew who gave him or her their book.  For the books I mailed, I included a handwritten note and tied the book with a ribbon (yellow for military, blue for law enforcement and red for fire services.)
