My Pune

My Pune Travel Book:

Pune is a city with a rich history, heritage, culture, many different identities and the promise of growing industrial and commercial opportunities. Its proximity to the business and financial capital of India are an added advantage.

This is why Elephant Design was set up in Pune seventeen years ago by fresh graduates from NID, all of whom were new to this city.

Thus began Elephant’s adventure that became intertwined with the city of Pune for as we began to explore the city and its nuances, we started falling in love with this captivating place.

In our unravelling of the city, we discovered that there was no comprehensive immediate history tracing the urban development of Pune. There were records of different periods and eras, which could be gleaned from various sources but this information had never been put together.

So, on the occasion of our 10th anniversary, we published a book called ‘Pune Queen of the Deccan’. It was our way of saying thank you and giving something back to the wonderful city of Pune. The book became an instant success.  So path breaking was the information in this book that it became a reference book for anyone who wanted to study Pune’s development.

Two years later we decided to publish ‘Pune 30 Picture Cards’, a unique book that was a photo documentary on Pune city by ace photographer Sandesh Bhandare. This book too became an instant hit.

Today Pune has progressed full steam towards becoming a well-rounded city of international standing, and is on the threshold of becoming a global city. Travellers frequent Pune for business and leisure purposes and there is a constant influx of people from all over the country who are coming here to be part of Pune’s bright future.

We have found one lacuna faced by any traveller coming to Pune, a book that comprehensively documents Pune city from the perspective of a new comer. One that not only gives a glimpse of Pune’s glorious past but also gives you information on what Pune is today.

Thus Elephant has published its third book the ‘My Pune Travel Book’. Put together with care to see that no aspect of Pune, its history, its people, or of life here is missed out.

The ‘My Pune Travel Book’ gives you all the information that you need to know about Pune while at the same time adding interesting facts, alongside beautiful photographs of this amazing city.

For the purpose of documentation in the book, the city has been divided into various areas. Each of these has been covered extensively, complete with a map of the area,  its prominent roads and landmarks. The next section of the book is perfect for any traveller visiting Pune and comprises details of hotels, eateries, shopping areas, picnic spots, pilgrim centers around the city and much much more.

There is also a section on business and commerce in Pune, which gives an overview of the predominant industries and companies of Pune, and also provides details on how one can go about setting up a business in Pune.

A section comprising write-ups from Pune’s eminent citizens with their views on the city adds a holistic and unbiased edge to book.
