Ian, Teresa and Katie Bentinck

It was a pleasure to work for the Bentinck family, and first and foremost we thank you for putting us up and treating us so well. We were cooked two 5 star meals a day by Teresa, had a miracle power shower to use and access to a massage chair; I doubt the Stormflex gang have ever been so productive!

As for the job itself, we completed it in just over a week and there were no real upsets. The house was a challenge to price for because of the complicated layout of the roof. We discovered it was built in three parts, the main house at the front, then the extension on the back left, and then the back left extension, each part having different slate sizes! We had to resort to Google Earth to get a clear picture of the whole roof! Amazing.

The chimney’s had no lead soakers in them but we decided to render up the join without the lead because there was no water ingress into the building. In London this seems fairly standard practice. Unthinkable in North Wales! Apart from this it was a standard Stormflex job.

You can see part of the extensive use of flashband used on the roof on the right.
On our way to fixing the worst part of the roof.
The finished product. Notice the new joins between the ridge tiles.
The absence of lead soakers
