        Abstracting wills - Finding the records


Module 6: Military Records


         Service records - Pension records - Finding the records


Module 7: Land Records


        Grants and deeds - Grantors and grantees - Dower - Deeds in depth -

        Abstracting records - Rectangular measuring system - Metes and bounds system

        Public domain and state lands - Research strategies


Module 8: Migration, Immigration and Naturalization


        Migration routes, patterns and habits - Basics and principles of migration - Sources

        and records



Assessing and analyzing internet resources and general use of computers will be incorporated in all lessons but will not be a separate topic. The instructor reserves the right to make minor changes in the schedule including which topics and materials are covered but all items listed here (and more) will be covered during the eight-week course.
