3 STEPS TO HOOK UP

1.  Connect 2 wires from the transformer AC Lights/Accessories Outlet to the AC on the GAUGEMASTER. 

     Will work on any 10-20V AC including Marklin Z Transformers.   

2.  Turn on the power.  The test light will go on.   Unit is working.

3.  Cut both wires from Transformer to Track.

      A.  Connect 2 Transformer wires ends to CONT. 

      B.  Connect 2 Track ends to TRACK

 

YOU ARE ALL SET.  Your Gaugemaster is ready to work for you. 

 

The track cleaner will work equally well with wire connections direct to the track or with Marklin's 8590 Feeder Track.  The 8590 has a built-in capacitor.  You have two options, leave the capacitor in - the track cleaner will work but the test light will not; or you can take the capacitor out and the test light will work.  If the capacitor is left in even one feeder track, the light will not work but be assured the track cleaner is still doing its job.

GAUGEMASTER MODEL HF-1 SPECIFICATIONS

Electronic Automatic Single Output Track Cleaner for use with all types of transformers. The 12v D.C. controlled output from the transformers is passed through the unit. Connection between unit, power source, transformer, and track is completed via six terminal connections. The unit superimposes a HARMLESS high frequency signal over the output from the transformer. When a poor contact between loco and rail is detected the unit switches on, ionizing the gap and burning off the dirt, switching off again when contact is restored.

We are Z Gauge enthusiasts and hobbyists and have had electronic track cleaners on each of our 7 main lines for the past 14 years with very satisfactory results and without any damage to any locomotive.   We run Marklin, Micro Train Lines, Freudenreich Feinwerktechnik [FR], Rogue, and AZL.  We have been stocking electronic track cleaners and servicing Z locomotives since 1991.  The Gaugemaster cleans the tracks by constantly and automatically sending an electric current through the wheels whenever it detects dirt, oil, or carbon deposits, thereby eliminating erratic locomotive movements and unscheduled stops.  It is connected to the transformer and to the track.
