Sand Dunes 1.1
Sand Dunes 1.1
I’ve been sitting on a slightly different version of my Sand Dunes slideshow for awhile now, so I’ll publish it to the web to see what any visitors think of it. The song is “Crazy” by Gnarles Barkley, and it came out while I was on my trip. It seemed he wrote this song just for me and this slideshow, because of how well it fits.
All the folks in my group but two others and I must have thought we were crazy to climb sand for an hour to reach the peak of the highest sand dune. What they never got to know was how grand the scale of all the sand dunes hidden behind this first one was, something from fantasy that was totally worth the hike/climb/crawl. There were three other professional photographers up there already.
The rule was we had to return at sundown, so the two girls who made it with me (they’re in a few pictures), started to leave as soon as it started to get dark. They said I should come too, but I wouldn’t. I can’t believe they made it that far and missed the sunset! The sun came out from under a cloud, and everything was gold! The colour palette shifted to fire, then cooled down to embers and purples. Purple mountains majesty is not the product of imagination, folks. My last shot was the 3rd to last in this slideshow (10:29 pm), and I started huffing it back down. MUCH easier that direction (especially without taking pictures along the way), and I made it back in about 10-15 minutes. Of course they all yelled at me for being late, but then the sun sets much earlier in the shadow of the dunes!
This video is a hold-me-over until I put two new photo sessions online that I have. Reading more about the Online Galleries, I think that’s the way new slideshows should be, so after I find out if I can do it with my version of iLife I’ll put it up there with a link from here. So the Goodlight blog will still be your one stop shop!
Cheers!
