Gracemount High School
Committed to Care and Excellence
Gracemount High School organises an annual Battlefields Experience Trip. The trip enables pupils to visit the battlefields, cemeteries and memorials of World War I in France and Belgium.
This is a once in a lifetime trip which takes pupils back in time to honour those who secured the first victory for the Allies and led to the ultimate defeat of Germany. Some of the highlights on this trip include:
• Visiting the scenes of great carnage – the trenches of Ypres Salient, the sites of gas attacks and mine warfare.
• Making a pilgrimage to the splendid monuments of the Somme and hear heartrending accounts of bravery.
• Witnessing ‘the white fields’ of France.
• Participating in the remembrance ceremony at the Menin Gate.
