My truck is a 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser. I purchased it in the spring of 2005 and have since driven it all over the West in pursuit of fish, fun, and a little relaxation. It is currently outfitted with a few noteworthy upgrades, including an ARB front bumper; MetalTech sliders; a bent-up, rattling, leaky Borla exhaust; 2.5” Old Man Emu suspension lift; and 33” tires. A decent stereo gets a little help from Sirius satellite radio and my iPod to help the miles melt away on long road trips.
I was first introduced to Land Cruisers when my uncle purchased a 1971 FJ-40. I’m sure when he bought the truck, he had no idea he was setting me on the road to compulsion. Thanks, Rich. His truck now sports monster tires, a built Chevy 350 crate motor, lots of suspension mods, and an Orion transfer case. He couldn’t wait for me to run the Rubicon, but I forgive him. Hey, I only took 17 years to buy my own — I don’t know what the big hurry was. Hopefully, we’ll hook up for some wheeling in Northern California sometime.
In the meantime, I continue building up my truck to be my version of the ultimate NW expedition rig and occasional off-roader. My current modifications have proven very capable, and as gas continues to get more expensive, I’m hesitant to keep increasing tire size, adding lift, roof racks, etc. A little more armor is in the works, but that will be about it for this rig. For now, my biggest desire is more time to get out there and enjoy the truck and money for the gas to get there.
Enjoy the pics,
Steve
