So who were these guys - really? They were first and foremost the men that Jesus chose. They were not pawns or “yes men” by any stretch of the imagination – twelve losers getting used by “the man.” We should remember that they were friends of Jesus and from out of their friendship and love for each other He was able to ask them to take whatever they had together to the next level. With the murder of Jesus they had seen more than what they could handle and it broke them down, which made them appear not to be the men they needed be. Which leads us to a significant truth... more than anything Jesus did not chose these guys for who they were - but rather who they were not.
