karma is going to get you

july can be a relatively slow month.
since duross & langel has been named one of the
top 25 reasons to visit philadelphia by budget travel,
the pace is quicker than in years past.
thanks budget travel!

on the slow days, sarah and i have been discussing the concept of karma. though neither of us are zen masters or schooled in eastern philosophy, like most americans, we have an opinion about everything.
our musings are a hybrid of many different schools of thought
but both sarah and i can agree that sooner or later,
karma is going to get you.

lately i've had some stuff brewing in my head that i have found difficult to just "let go". ultimately small, petty thoughts and feelings that serve no one but my inner monster. like smashing protons in a centrifuge.
instant inner karma. in some sardonic sense (as the phrase "greedy bitch" has entered my lexicon) i am intensely interested as to how
this is all going to show up in my future self.
let it go. let it go. let it go...

sarah has been letting go of a great many things as well.
the line between being a boss and being a friend is wafer thin.
for the longest time the most i could counsel her was to "work it out"
or "listen to your heart". now i ask the question “what have you learned from all of this?” we both agree that we create our own realities.
it works for us. we respect that you might think differently.
we are forever looking for other points of view.
karma, as i understand it, is not tit for tat.
in my life, profound unhappiness led me toward a path of self acceptance and fulfillment. who knows what’s next?
i will miss sarah when she is gone.
yes, eventually, someday she will be going.
from the day i hired her i knew it wasn't forever.
fate or serendipity, sarah and i have had some karma to workout.

everything leads to everything.
that which you manifest is before you.

though james supports me and budgets for me and keeps the whole thing afloat, it is sarah holding my hand as we work into the dream realized. in tandem we create the practical vision.
what (we hope) you'll want to purchase.
it's a calm, coherent way to work that serves us both very well.
with a slight amount of fear i can say to sarah "this christmas we're going to have to rely solely on our own merits"
and she'll reply "yeah, but it'll be a good thing and people will respond well to our efforts". we simply look at one another & laugh, hoping to god we're on the right path.
