Derek (Bailout) Rudge
Derek (Bailout) Rudge
Death of a friend
Sunday, 24 February 2008
Derek has been apart of the squad for many years now. He loved riding his bike and used to commute to work every day on it. Riding on the road was good for Derek, far less bumps than the off road we would ride at the weekend. Derek was not the most supple of riders, combine that with his short stature and he seemed to struggle to stay on the bike, and therefore Bailout stuck.
He was a very generous and happy soul. His quick wit and sense of humour had us in stitches on many occasion. However that was probably his strongest sense because his sense of direction was dyer. Derek was normally at the back, not because he was unfit, far from it, he just could not have lead the group cause we would have got lost.
I have been very troubled by his loss. He was a good friend, a mate, one of the lads . . . . . Check out the pictures in my albums.

It is with a sad heart that I write the notes on our ride today. In fact it has taken me 5 days to feel I can do this.
Today, during our ride Derek (Bailout) Rudge suffered a heart attack and died.
He will always be remembered by us.
Our thoughts go out to his girls.
