Songs for Phillip

Songs for Phillip is a collaborative compilation of acoustic tracks from some of the best known bands in the West Sussex area.

It is a charity album whose purpose is to raise money for CLIC Sargent, (caring for children with cancer) and to raise public awareness surrounding leukaemia in children
and young adults.

The album is the brain child of Simon Fever-Leach and follows in the footsteps of the bi-annual charity Miffstock Festival.

Simon’s brother in law Phillip was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia at the end of 2005.

Following an announcement in the press that an album was to be produced, Simon was flooded with offers from the local bands to take part, with the cream of the crop being given a chance to appear on the album.

The premise for the recording was simple, to capture the raw and natural feel of local acoustic music by asking the chosen bands to record their tracks in a few hours and deliberately not over-producing the album.

This wonderful album is a testament to the individual bands ability and weeks of dedication that Simon has spent slaving over a hot mix.

About Simon - Simon has been a regular in music venues around Sussex since 1981 in such bands as Hollow Smile, The Embers and Rock Killed Kenny, and is best known to local music fans as the school uniform-clad, loud guitar-wielding “Angus” in the infamous AC/DC tribute band Bad Boy Boogie.
