January Spreenkler MEETUP Recap.
Mary Beth Gaspar-Waite creates a wonderful experience for our January meetup! Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett shows off some humor and gets serious about key issues for the economic future of Milwaukee.
Thank you Mary Beth for such a wonderful evening! From the innovative space and delicious food to the valet parking, everything was perfect. Mary Beth kicked off the night discussing the Palomar and its plans to bring hundreds of jobs to downtown Milwaukee. She captivated the crowd with her enthusiasm and passion for creating a better Milwaukee. This was by far the largest turnout for a Spreenkler Meetup and I’m sure all were impressed by the fine touches from Mary Beth and her team, Megan Harper and Stephanie Minnich.
Unfortunately, we announced on Twitter just a few days later that the Palomar project was canceled (UrbanMilwaukee | OnMilwaukee | JSOnline). Of course, Mary Beth offered an elegant explanation to the Spreenkler community. You can read that here.
MilwaukeeCareerNetwork.com turns job searches into job matches.
We also heard from Susan Govea, President of Milwaukee Career Network (MCN), who presented the brand new job search and match website. MCN looks to make finding a job more social and more fun while allowing you to make stronger connections along the way. Susan and her team are also focused on positioning MCN to help the regional economy by getting people employed as quickly as possible!
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett names transit and water as two critical pieces to Milwaukee’s economic future.
There was a common reaction to Mayor Barrett’s discussion: “wow, I didn’t know he was that funny!” In addition to addressing key concerns in how he’ll help turn the local economy around, Mayor Barrett also showed the Spreenkler community that he’s a normal guy who appreciates the simpler things in life. It was great to have the Mayor take time out of his ultra busy schedule to meet our group and see for himself the energy and action the creative class is bringing to the Milwaukee area. Instead of talking more about what he said, I think Mike Rohde’s sketches sum things up much better (thanks, Mike!).
Urban funk from the Pilots tops off a great night.
Providing the perfect ambiance after a great meetup is hard to do but the Pilots did just that. Thanks to the guys for playing their first live show at Spreenkler! You can find more about them here.

February Spreenkler MEETUP Recap.
Lisa Leider inspires as she unveils how she’s turning her dream into reality!
Believe. Create. Become.™ Women’s Revolution promises to empower women to clearly see who they are and who they can become.
Whether in life or in work, we all struggle to push forward in the face of adversity. Lisa Leider could be the spokeswoman for that cause. Putting it all on the line, she’s chasing her dream. Sound risky? Not for someone as smart, creative and, most of all, sincerely passionate and determined about what she is doing.
Lisa shared the hard work behind launching Believe. Create. Become.™ Women’s Revolution and how the idea came together. She also talked about how she plans to bring 10,000 people together in May to “inspire, guide and discover their unique purpose and drive in life!”
