I’m Michael Burge. I race a unique Hossack framed single cylinder racer in the British and European Supermono Championships, using a TM Racing 600 engine.

The FIM class rules for Supermono are:
Normally aspirated 4-stroke single cylinder engine.
                    <250cc, minimum weight 85kg
                    250cc to 500cc, minimum weight 90kg
                    500cc to 800cc, minimum weight 95kg

The class has evolved into a kind of unofficial prototype 4-stroke academy for developing riding and engineering talent. Where else can a young rider compete with ex-world championship level racers in a friendly, encouraging and supportive paddock on a lightweight, sweet handling 4-stroke machine?

At the same time the ‘one-cylinder format’ and simple rules make it affordable and attractive to the innovators of the future. The engineering goes beyond bolting on a few goodies. You can experiment and develop your ideas in a competitive environment to gain valuable experience without losing the shirt from your back.
