Her car was found abandoned alongside a Georgia road, though no one saw her walking. She had joined the Army a few months prior, and was subsequently listed as AWOL. While on an approved leave from the Army (around Christmas, 1969) she was seen at a party in Atlanta.  It was at this party where she was last seen before her car was found. Her name was Gloria Jean Baird. When she disappeared, she left behind a two-year-old daughter.  Her daughter is now forty-one.
